Way over in Hell’s Kitchen is Terminal 5, an extravagant, multilevel event site with five distinctly different room environments. Originally opened in 2003 and renovated in 2007, the venue has 40-foot ceilings, high-tech sound and lighting, a kitchen, and a roof deck.

Alt-rock/ambient acts such as James Blake, The Dead Weather, Soundgarden and Jane’s Addiction have performed there. It’s a perfect blend of intimate and an arena like feel, with a standing capacity at 1,800 on the ground level, with another 760 and 480 for the upper balconies.

Easily reachable by subway. Best bet: Take the 1; A, C; B, D to Columbus Circle, then walk west along 56th St. Terminal 5 will be on your left between 11th and 12th Avenues.
