Ever wonder what it would be like to sleep aboard an aircraft carrier? Find out as The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in NYC hosts Operation Slumber, providing the opportunity to spend the night on this legendary representative of American history. This September, on Friday the 22nd, adults can get in on the action without kids for a special one-night-only Operation Slumber: Adults Take Over.

Enjoy after-hours access to the museum, including the British Airways Concorde, the fastest commercial aircraft to ever cross the Atlantic, the submarine Growler, movies, rides in a flight simulator, dinner and drinks on the flight deck (a steel beach picnic!), a behind-the-scenes look at aircraft restoration, and morning yoga.

There's also a limited-edition VIP package available that includes a behind-the-scenes tour, baggage handling, reserved parking, early admission, a cocktail reception, and sleeping in the Space Shuttle Pavilion.

Admission is $359 general, $259 for members, and $499 for the VIP special. The experience runs from 6:30pm until 9am Sunday morning. Cots are provided, but BYOSB (bring your own sleeping bag).   

Kids will also get their chance to overnight on Intrepid. They can get exclusive access to the ship and Space Shuttle Pavilion, and sleep among the aircraft, just like enlisted sailors once did.

Overnights, which cost $120pp, include educational activities, a visit inside the Space Shuttle Pavilion, a flashlight tour of the flight deck, a ride in a flight simulator and meals (dinner, snacks and breakfast). Kids also receive a goodie bag with a T-shirt!

The sleepover runs from 6pm to 8am the next day. Adult: child ratio required 1:5 (max. adult supervision required for individual bookings.) Individual cots are provided, but sleeping bags welcomed.
