Dylan’s Candy Bar began with a mission to “awaken the creative spirit and inner child in everyone,” and their latest in-store virtual reality game takes that dream seriously. Opened December 22nd at the Dylan's Candy Bar location in Union Square, “Playthings” is a 3D experience that adults and children of all ages can enjoy during their visit to the famed candy store.
So What Is It?
“Playthings” is an interactive video game that uses specially designed glasses to create an immersive three-dimensional world for its players. Once users are wearing the glasses, they can use two remote controls to create their own music within the gaming world by tapping on food-shaped instruments (think hotdogs, gummy bears, and just about everything in between!). This game is inclusive of every age group and takes away the competition factor, instead placing a focus on creating new, engaging beats. As for the technology, it’s cutting-edge. Created by Always & Forever Computer Entertainment, “Playthings” is a the first-ever virtual reality game of its kind, and you’ll want to get in on this visually stimulating, snack-centric world while you’re in New York City.
What Else Is There?
Once you’ve made some sweet tunes by playing a couple rounds of “Playthings,” there’s still plenty more to do at Dylan’s Candy Bar. Created in 2001 by Dylan Lauren, Dylan’s Candy Bar merges the worlds of art, fashion, pop culture, and of course, candy. With over 7,000 edible tempations, the options here feel endless, and no matter what candy you’re looking for, you can bet that it will be somewhere within this candy shop’s colorful walls.

How About Souvenirs?
While you’ll want to stock up on edible goodies, Dylan’s Candy Bar also offers a huge selection of long-lasting souvenirs that aren’t for devouring.
