NYC Gets Ready for Super Bowl XLVIII

New York City is in a frenzy for this year’s Super Bowl XLVIII, set for Sunday, February 2 (6:25pm EST). Why? After a huge bidding war, this year’s big game will take place at MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands in New Jersey; New York will be serving as an official co-host. This means it will be the the first-ever Super Bowl held at an outdoor stadium, in a cold-weather city. The game will air on FOX network; the halftime talent will be Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

When it comes to NYC co-hosting the Super Bowl, no expense is being spared. The weekend of Jan. 29-Feb. 1, Broadway is being transformed into Super Bowl Boulevard, from 34th Street to 47th Street.

Stop by a live, FREE concert with legendary New York band Blondie on Feb. 1 at 8:30pm. The 90 minute set will take place at the Super Bowl Boulevard Concert Stage, Broadway & 40th Street.

Other opportunities along the Super Bowl Boulevard will include photo ops with the Vince Lombardi Trophy or race down a specially made toboggan. Admission is FREE and open to the public. FOX, NFL Network, CBS, CNN and ESPN will broadcast the festivities live.


Toys“R”Us Times Square, located on Broadway at 44th Street, will serve as THE destination for families—and pint-sized football fans—eager to celebrate this highly-anticipated occasion. Positioned in the heart of Super Bowl Boulevard, The World’s Greatest Toy Store will offer visitors a great assortment of NFL licensed products and will host four days of family-fun events beginning January 29. Activities will include an appearance and autograph signing by famed comic artist, Todd McFarlane, as well as face painting, product demos, trivia contests, rally towel designing, cookie decorating, photo opportunities with Geoffrey the Giraffe and much more.
                       
Toys“R”Us will also offer collectible merchandise, such as footballs, baseball caps, jerseys, t-shirts, sweatshirts, pillows and throw blankets in dedicated feature shops throughout the store. And, fans preparing to brave the cold for the big game can keep warm with cold-weather gear, including knit hats, gloves, scarves, fleece blankets and hand warmers, among other items. At Madame Tussauds New York through Feb. 2, indulge in Blitz Glam: Legends of the Big Game. Sing the national anthem with Whitney Houston, huddle up with NJ Giants’ Superbowl winning quarterback Eli Manning, perform at halftime with Madonna and more. During Super Bowl week (January 25-February 2), New York Golf Center will be offering additional savings on all on-sale golf clothing (marked down 30%-70%). Buy any two discounted clothing items and get one free (equal or lesser value).


On 1/29, 30 & 2/1 (2-6:30pm), Pepsi will transform Bryant Park into #PEPCITY, a free celebration featuring complimentary tastes of unique, artisanal fare and incorporating Broadway, art, sports and culture displays into multi-dimensional presentations of classic city experiences. #PEPCITY will convert to a free, ticketed performance space each evening at 8pm, with performances by Austin Mahone, Prince Royce and on Saturday evening, headlining and closing out the event, Ziggy Marley. Tickets will be distributed online in advance of the performance, on a first-come, first-serve basis.


Thursday, January 30th through Monday, February 3rd, Super Bowl XLI champion Darrell Reid’s charity The Footz Foundation will host The Huddle In The Heart of SoHoan intimate, star-studded weekend of A-List events. The Huddle will boast professional athletes not only from the NFL but the NBA, MLB, NHL and PGA; joining forces with the fashion and entertainment worlds for 4-days of networking and social awareness.
