On Stage at Kingsborough (formerly known as Kingsborough Performing Arts Center), on the oceanfront campus of Kingsborough Community College, announces its final concert of the July 2011 series of free outdoor concerts.

"The concerts have been filled with enthusiastic audiences this summer and we are delighted to close on a high note with Tommy Igoe's outstanding Birdland Big Band " stated Anna Becker, Executive Director of On Stage at Kingsborough. "These concerts are free and open to the general public, and we look forward to welcoming everyone for a gorgeous night of great music in a friendly community setting."

PERFORMANCE INFORMATION:

Saturday, July 23, at 8:00 p.m.: The Birdland Big Band
The world's hottest modern big band and resident band of the popular New York City nightclub of the same name will play Around The World In Jazz. Birdland Big Band will bring us the global sounds of Cuba, Brazil, Argentina and America with special guest, Venezuelan violin sensation Ali Bello.

MAKE IT A PICNIC!

This summer we are delighted to welcome Maria The Ice Cream Girl (KCC grad, Maria Campanella) who will be selling sandwiches, cupcakes, chips, candy, soda and, of course, ice cream! Gates open at 7:00 p.m. so come early and make it a picnic concert! Concert-goers can bring their own picnics too.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

All performances are free and open to the public and reservations are not necessary.
Kingsborough Community College is located at 2001 Oriental Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY.
There is ample, free parking on the campus.

Performances take place at Kingsborough's outdoor bandshell. Limited seating is available, but audiences are welcome to bring folding chairs and blankets too.
In case of rain, performances will take place indoors at the Performing Arts Center. The box office voicemail will be updated at 4:30 p.m. on show days to reflect location information.

Special Guest Violinist Ali Bello has collaborated and performed with a wide range of world-renowned artists including Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri's Big Band, Doc Severinsen, and Beyonce.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Kingsborough Community College Founded in 1963, Kingsborough Community College, a college of the City University of New York (CUNY), has provided half a million students with liberal arts, applied science, and career education. Our 70-acre waterfront campus is on Manhattan Beach, at the extreme southern end of Brooklyn. The college's mission is to respond to the educational, cultural, and economic needs of our students and our community.

The goal of On Stage at Kingsborough is to bring artistically and culturally diverse, multi-disciplinary performances from masters of the form to the varied communities in and around the college. We strive to create an environment where the arts are an accessible and integral part of life, and the Arts Center is a community gathering place for interaction and inspiration.
