Dead Men Dreaming - Mercury Lounge
August 12, 2017 - New York

Dead Men Dreaming is an American Hard Rock band formed in New York in 2004 by a group of friends who grew up in the same neighborhood. After tearing up the local scene and releasing a few demos independently, DMD got into the studio in 2006 to record their first full length album, a self-titled release that was one of CMJ's top 5 most added albums in April of 2007. Following another successful release in 2008, the band headlined their own shows at New York's Gramercy Theater and Irving Plaza as well performing at the Nokia Theater in Times Square and Bamboozle 2009 in New Jersey. In addition to their extensive touring of the east coast, mid-west and California, notably at the Whisky-A-Gogo, DMD has also played several South By Southwest music festivals since 2007. In 2010, singer/keyboardist Mike Triana, lead guitarist Anthony Bordonaro, rhythm guitarist Paul Riccobono, bassist Rich Riccobono and drummer Dima Shnaydman began working on new material. DMD enlisted platinum record producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Hoobastank) to help bring out the very best of the band's more refined and mature sounding songs, and with Jim at the helm, they recorded their most inspired work to date, "Last... Summer Thunder - Featuring Pill+Running, Gold Dime - Union Pool
August 12, 2017 - Brooklyn

PILL is the young collaboration between artists Veronica Torres, Andrew Spaulding, Jonathan Campolo and Benjamin Jaffe. PILL's recordings combine fast, forward-thinking lyrics that express social unrest with a painterly contempt for rock formalism. The four-piece draw from a deep pool of influences including New York City noise, krautrock, Sun Ra modalities, telepathic dreams and all six senses.Running The screech. The wail. The slanted-floor nausea. There's not a word for the signature cyclical howling that Chicago's Running have harnessed and tortured into submission. They play with their food before they eat…flay into a terse punk trance, a Kraut-beat psycho riff for ages, mesmerize or terrorize…but invariably they unleash The Sound upon us just when it seems most likely to bring back your lunch. That they've built such a mean, spare, and evil band around such chaos is to our benefit - the circular mayhem alone would be a fascinating stand-alone curiosity - but lucky for us, they've captured their cacophonous, rotten heart in the black glove of blank-stare punk.GOLD DIME is Andrya Ambro, former member of the noise rock duo Talk Normal. Gold Dime has been performing live as a tri... (read more)

Popgun Presents Frankie Rose (Album Release Party!) Tempers, War Bubble - Baby's All Right
August 12, 2017 - New York

After spending years as a major presence in Brooklyn's thriving music scene, Frankie Rose relocated to her familial home of Los Angeles for 18 months. Frankie's intent was to establish yet another moment in her storied indie rock métier. Gradually, she found herself short on sleep, funds and optimism. "I moved to L.A., drama ensued and I ended up on a catering truck. I was like, how can this be my life after being a touring musician and living off of music. I had really lost my way and I thought I was totally done." Through sleepless nights of listening to broadcaster Art Bell's paranormal-themed archives, Frankie's thoughts had turned to "who am I, I'm not cut out for this business, it's not for me." She continues, "I was literally in my room in L.A., not knowing how I was going to get out. But out of it all, I just decided to keep making music, because it is what I love and what I do – regardless of the outcome." Towards the end of her time spent in Los Angeles, Frankie reached out to Jorge Elbrecht (Tamaryn, Gang Gang Dance, Violens) and began sketching what became the basic outline of what felt like a new album. Tempers are Jasmine Golestaneh and Eddie Cooper, a New York-ba... (read more)

Curry's roots certainly run muddy-waters deep, something that's not been lost on the guitar legends he's had the honor of sharing the stage with over the past few years. "Matthew Curry is a phenomenal guitar player," marvels Peter Frampton. "A highlight from my tour last year was jamming with him. He's the next guitar hero!" Echoing that sentiment is Steve Miller, whom Curry both opened for and joined onstage during an exhilarating nine-date run in Canada as well as dates all across the US. Steve Miller declares that Curry is a "wonderful guitar player [and] great songwriter in the Stevie Ray Vaughan area of virtuosity and originality." Besides continuing on with the Steve Miller Band, Curry will also be opening for The Doobie Brothers and Don Felder. "I'm absolutely thrilled," Curry says of supporting these and other heavy hitters. "We have so much fun out there and I really, really enjoy it. August 13, 2017 - New York

Ayo Breeze is a New York Hip-Hop recording artist, song-writer, and producer. Born in Crown Heights Brooklyn and raised in Jamaica Queens, his immersion in Hip-Hop began at home. His father, a local radio DJ, gave him a MPC player and by 8 years old he was already making beats. He became known as Breeze for his natural laid back swagger and signature sound, with its R&B melodies, infectious beats, and positive vibe. "The whole reason for me even following music was to stay out of trouble…" he says. "[When] I was 15 years old I was approached at gunpoint by a guy in an argument in Hollis Queens. I had the choice to calm everything down. That was a changing point for me, in terms of taking life more serious… I have to go a different route, I have to live life. Living life today is what my music is about. " Shortly thereafter his dad helped him build a studio to begin recording his music. By high school, Breeze was DJing to make a living and performing as a part of the duo Breeze and SP (currently known as Ayo Breeze x Cheffboy.) The group put out several mixtapes and built a fan-following in the tri-state party scene. Breeze's first solo album "So Past Done" arrived in 2013. It n... (read more)

The Unwritten Law - Dixon Place
Through August 14, 2017 - New York City

Dixon Place presents the co-production of world-famous beatboxer and Drama Desk Award recipient Chesney Snow’s THE UNWRITTEN LAW opening Sunday, July 30th. Snow comes direct from his run in Broadway’s In Transit, where Ben Brantley of the NY Times called him “a one-man sound effects wiz.”. Detailing his life’s journey from his inherited legacy of incarceration to the responsibilities of fatherhood, homelessness to Harvard, and ultimately starring on the Broadway stage, THE UNWRITTEN LAW is an unforgettable evening of one man’s poignant story. Adeptly weaving his inspiring, deeply personal tale with original music, contemporary dance, stunning visual design, and his signature beatboxing skills, Snow brings to light over a century of his family’s history in the deep South. THE UNWRITTEN LAW, will play six performances only - Sundays July 30th, August 6th & 13th at 6:30pm and Mondays July 31st, August 7th & 14th at 7:30pm - at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street).
