River Coyote: NYC's Place for Coffee and Wine Lovers Alike

Newcomer River Coyote brings to the heart of the Lower East Side exactly what it needs: a boutique wine and coffee bar. Whether you want to wind-up mid-day or wind down come the evening, River Coyote is the place to be for coffee and wine lovers alike. Taking a new and innovative approach to coffee brewing and wine pouring, patrons can watch as their lattes and cappuccinos are made using state-of-the-art technology and enjoy the streaming flow of wine coming from taps. As for the shop itself, its minimalistic décor creates a welcoming space for socializing, relaxing, and enjoying the little things in lifewine and coffee included.

Seed to Cup Coffee

Coffee is served all day at River Coyote, so patrons can get their caffeine fix no matter the hour. Nobletree Coffee in Brooklyn supplies the beans, sourcing them from their own farms in Brazil and roasting them at their Red Hook facilities. This “seed to cup” operation creates a brew that is rich and authentic. To add to the quality, River Coyote uses top-of-the-line brewing equipment, including a 3Temp Hipster Brewer that allows for full control of the beverage’s temperature and brew method. Coffee is brewed hourly to ensure that it never tastes stale. Additionally, under-the-counter espresso machines by Modbar with copper taps are used for creating world-class espresso-based beverages. The best part of it all? River Coyote is designed so that patrons can watch the baristas as they create their caffeinated works of art (as opposed to many coffee shops, where the brewing and frothing are done behind large pieces of bulky equipment).

Wine on Tap

Never had wine on tap before? Well now’s your chance! River Coyote offers eight white options and eight red options. Kept in a custom-built triple-fridge draught system, the boutique wines come from the likes of France, California, and New York. Along with serving wine on tap, River Coyote also serves local craft beers in frosted mugs, ciders, cold brews, and kombucha. (With the exception of one kosher wine, you won’t find any bottles at River Coyote.)

The Eats

River Coyote’s menu keeps up with the establishment’s overall dedication to quality dining with morning pastries from Dough and all day cheeses from Saxelby Cheesemongers at the Essex Market. The dinner menu was also recently launched, including an array of delectable dishes, such as the Cauliflower Kale Salad (with grape and tahini), Arancini (with mushroom and parmesan), and Potato Croquette (with mozzarella and marinara).

Interior Design

Ambience makes for half the experience at any culinary establishment, and River Coyote’s interior design is one that gives off a classy and clean New York vibe. The space was originally built in 1893 and it still retains its wood beams and original exposed brick walls. Juxtaposed with the vintage structure are white marble countertops and Macassar ebony wood with copper and brass taps to create a beautiful and minimalistic space that is cozy, comfortable, and inviting.

River Coyote is located at 121 Ludlow St. on the Lower East Side. For more information, visit rivercoyoteles.com.
