Explore the Stream - Earthplace

Children and their parents can learn more about the streams and rivers that run through our towns. Explore Stony Brook to learn how water moves dirt, how animals cope with big rainstorms, who lives in the water, what plants do well in watery soil, and so much more. We’ll get right into the water, so wear sneakers and old clothes. Included with regular admission.

Wonders of Wildlife - Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo

Come on over and meet some the world's most fascinating animals! Explore exotic places like deserts, rain forests, wetlands and even Connecticut's backyard forests while learning about the amazing adaptations that allow animals to call those places home. Presented at the Zoo's Learning Circle, this event is FREE with Zoo admission.

The best of Broadway is presented FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with this lunchtime series on the Bryant Park Stage. Sponsored by Bank of America, and JCPenney 33rd & 6th, and hosted by Lite fm's on-air personalities, the tenth annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances runs through August 12th. 12:30-1:30pm. Scheduled performers for 7/29 include The Lion King, The Addams Family, Wicked, Next to Normal.

Animal Tales - Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo

Visit us for story time, a special craft and even an animal encounter each weekday. All activities are FREE with the purchase of Zoo admission. Families with children under age 6 are welcome.

Zoo Patrol - Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo

Zoo Patrol is an exciting summer activities program offered for children. Situated on Zoo grounds, children participate in talks and activities with Zoo staff, play animal-related games and participate in arts and crafts. Each day's activities vary and may include preparing an animal enrichment item, nature walks and getting a glimpse behind the scenes. Sessions run Monday through Friday. Each week is $130/child for members and $150/child for non-members. Weeks one and two are for children ages 7 - 11; weeks three and four are for children ages 12 - 15. Boy Scouts Take Over Times Square - Times Square

On July 31, the Greater New York Area Boy Scouts of America are celebrating 100 years of Scouting in a BIG way with a Scout invasion of Times Square! The entire community is invited to join in the fun -- and all events are free! Visit Broadway between 42nd-45th St. and brave the canoe canal, reach new heights on the climbing walls, and test your skills in virtual archery and kayaking –just to name a few! Beginning at 7 p.m., witness a spectacular stage show featuring top local talent and a broadcast of the exciting Centennial Celebration Show from the National Scout Jamboree in Fort A.P. Hill, VA .
