New York City is not only home to great cultural institutions, shops and events; it's also a place where there are plenty of things to do outside. If you're looking for ways to enjoy New York's beautiful summer weather, we've got some great suggestions for things you can do outdoors?from New York parks and outdoor cafes to flea markets, sporting events, and street fairs. Here are some of our favorite things to do in NYC this week that will get you out of the house!

Howl O Ween - Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo
Through October 31, 2010 -

Calling all ghosts and goblins! Come and spend a truly fun and frightful evening at the Zoo featuring the Harrowing Hayride, Haunted Farmyard and magic show by Jim Sisti. Your ticket also includes FREE face painting, kettle corn, and of course, CANDY! Don't miss this hauntingly good time! Guests can purchase a limited number of Howl-O-Ween tickets for only $6 from October 1 - October 22. These discount tickets can be purchased during normal business hours by visiting the Zoo's ticket booth. Tickets purchased after October 22 are $8 per person. Event recommended for children ages 6-10. (Face painting not available on Oct. 31)

Free Skating at Bryant Park from CLEAR 4G - The Pond at Bryant Park
November 01, 2010 -

CLEAR 4G officially launches in NYC on November 1st so to celebrate we are inviting everyone to join us on the ice rink at Bryant Park for FREE ice skating. CLEAR will be covering the cost of everyone’s skates and bag check from 11AM to 10PM on 11/1. We will have a photo station set up next to the rink where you can get your photo taken with your friends, then we will email them directly to your inbox using CLEAR 4G.

A CLEAR Lounge will be set up near the rink where free hot chocolate will be pouring all day, plus the latest CLEAR 4G devices will be available for you to demo while you thaw out.

Explore the Zoo with your friends and family atop a tractor drawn wagon -- a seasonal adventure that is not to be missed! Hayrides will run on weekends and school vacation days through the end of November. Rides will start at the W.O.L.F. cabin. Tickets are $2.00 and can be purchased in the gift shop.

Keep Rockland Beautiful, Annual Awards Gala - Bath House, Nyack Beach State Park

This annual event recognizes those who help clean-up and beautify Rockland County. The evening event will feature healthy food, live music, locally-brewed beer, and a gallery of paintings by local artists available for sale. All proceeds benefit Keep Rockland Beautiful's programs.

Come fall in love with the new colony of African penguins in a new outdoor exhibit, offering views above and below the water.

The Butterfly Conservatory - American Museum of Natural History
Through May 27, 2011 -

Celebrating its 13th year, this highly popular wintertime destination flourishes in 80-degree temperatures and features up to 500 hovering iridescent butterflies, blooming tropical flowers, and lush green vegetation. The Butterfly Conservatory transforms the iciest winter day into a magical escape into summer. Shimmering, multicolored butterflies gently flutter by visitors' upturned faces, land atop their heads, or perch upon their shoulders.
