Street Dogs - Highline Ballroom
September 15, 2012 -

Tracing the Street Dogs' story is no easy task. One thing that all parties can agree on is where it all started. At a time when the music scene teems with mediocrity and fashion-oriented bands that are simultaneously from nowhere and of everywhere, maintaining a sense of roots, politics, and place has become this band's calling card, a way of demonstrating to the world that they most decidedly stand for something.

RAMIN KARIMLOO - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
September 16, 2012 - New York

For someone who has starred in the West End as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables and as the iconic Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, including the 25th anniversary spectacular at the Royal Albert Hall and at The Royal Variety Show, as well as creating the role of the Phantom in Love Never Dies, Ramin Karimloo doesn't look like your average Olivier-nominated musical theater superstar, what with with his arm full of tattoos. But if he doesn't look like a musical theater star, then that's just as it should be. Such stars don't usually have their own bluegrass bands, idolize actors like Daniel Day Lewis and Robert De Niro, write their own songs, or play the guitar.

THE COWSILLS - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
September 17, 2012 - New York

The real-life inspiration behind the hit television series The Partridge Family, The Cowsills were one of the biggest pop acts of the late '60s, distinguished by their angelic harmonies and sun-kissed melodies. The group's origins lie with brothers Bill and Bob Cowsill, who as children began their singing careers covering Everly Brothers hits. Given guitars by their father, the siblings soon recruited younger brothers Barry and John to play bass and drums, respectively, and as Beatlemania dawned, the teen foursome began performing live at school dances and church socials throughout their native Newport, Rhode Island.

Nelly Furtado - Highline Ballroom
September 17, 2012 - Manhattan

This Portuguese-Canadian songstress is her own toughest act to follow. Since rising to the top of the music scene with "Whoa, Nelly!" in 2001 and its hit single "I'm Like a Bird," Furtado stayed put for a decade with blockbusters such as "Promiscuous," "Maneater" and "Say it Right." Now, with her fourth English-language studio album, "The Spirit Indestructible," featuring singles "Parking Lot" and "Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)," the Grammy Award winner is proving once again that she's got staying power, keeping her crown as a provocative dance-hall diva worth breaking out the moves for.

LINDA LAVIN WITH BILLY STRITCH - 54 Below
September 17, 2012 - New York

A veteran of the cabaret stage, Linda began her career playing such NYC nightspots as The Showplace in Greenwich Village and midtown's Downstairs at the Upstairs. Recently, Linda released her very first CD, Possibilities.

ROBERT CRAY - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
September 18, 2012 - New York

Blues guitarist and singer Robert Cray's smooth, seductive vocal phrasing and rhythmic R&B stylings have earned him a reputation as a modern blues poet. His signature blend of rhythm and blues, pop, rock, soul, and traditional blues have made him a standout. His latest studio album, This Time, came out in 2009. As ever with Cray's undefinable sound, the music on the disc remains stubbornly beyond category. "Blues is one of the foundations of our music, but it's not all that we play," Cray says. "When I first started playing guitar, I wanted to be George Harrison - that is, until I heard Jimi Hendrix. After that, I wanted to be Albert Collins and Buddy Guy and B.B. King. And then there are singers like O.V. Wright and Bobby Blue Bland. It's all mixed up in there."

Stud was selected as an All-American and now holds the lowest ERA in Duke baseball history after only his freshman season. After the promising start to Stud's collegiate baseball career, however, Tommy John surgery put him on the sidelines. Suddenly, making music became an outlet for him to pass the time. Stud is now one of the hottest upcoming musicians on the web. His rookie mixtape A Toast to Tommy, released last October, debuted at No. 3 and No. 2 on the worldwide and US iTunes Hip-Hop Albums charts. He has since headlined a sold-out 20-city national tour and has acquired nearly 10 million YouTube views.
