'FOREVER RAY' A Musical Tribute To RAY CHARLES - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
September 03, 2011 - New York

Whitley and the Hard Times Band perform the exciting and uplifting music of Ray Charles, which include a wonderful blend of musical styles which range from Jazz and Blues, to Country and R&B.

The band features a stellar line-up of musicians whose performing credits include:

Ben E. King, Michael McDonald, Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, George Clinton, Prince, Liza Minnelli, Jimmy Vivino, Rod Stewart, Celia Cruz, Aretha Franklin, Tito Puente, The O'Jays, Donna Summers, Temptations, Four Tops, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Frank Sinatra, Lionel Hampton + Vocalist Angela Workman was a Raelette in Ray Charles' band.

From country to blues to jazz to R&B and even funk, Ray Charles set the aesthetic standard for more than five decades, earning plaudits across the globe and setting standards that his legion of fans, in and out of the entertainment industry, aspire to.

More often than not he wasn't called by his name - or even his longtime nickname "Brother Ray"---his is simply "The Genius."

Few artists can claim to have had such a wide ranging impact on the music we love, and even fewer have altered the course of so many musical streams - from his soul-jazz combos to his crucial R&B bands, to his landmark country music recordings, "Modern Sounds in Country Music." Only modesty kept him from saying the obvious - that his name sits at the top of the soul singers list.

MEDIAEVAL BAEBES - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
September 06, 2011 - New York

Mediaeval Baebes' exquisite storybook opened its pages in 1996, when a group of friends broke into a North London cemetery and sang together, clad in flowing white gowns and crowns of ivy.

Pulling lyrics from medieval texts and setting them to original scores using mediaeval and classical instruments, whilst singing in an impressive array of long forgotten languages, the Baebes offered a unique musical beauty and outstanding talent. Their choice of mediaeval texts were dramatic, obscure and dark in topic and remarked upon the inevitability of death, the pointlessness of material possessions, the horror of unrequited love or the dangers of imbibing too much alcohol. Some themes are timeless!

Twelve years later, these fair maidens have placed three albums into the top of the classical charts and their contribution to the BBC production of The Virgin Queen (composed by Martin Phipps) resulted in a deserved Ivor Novello Award 2007 for best television soundtrack.

Mediaeval Baebes have performed before enthusiastic audiences in the UK, United States, Canada and Europe in venues ranging from castles and caves to nightclubs and Renaissance Fayres. They have toured with Jools Holland and played at The Royal Albert Hall, Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall, Jersey Opera House, Tewkesbury Abbey, supported Michael Flatley in Hyde Park, and performed at the legendary Lilith Fair.

Their most recent album `Illumination' takes a fresher contemporary direction whilst retaining the ethereal beauty of the Baebes' historical and musical influences.

The group are currently working on the development of their visual performance and in 2011 you will be able to experience their fairytale whimsy, otherworldly enchantment, and supernatural allure in a brand new theatrical spectacular.

THE YARDBIRDS w/ Sp Guest PEPPI MARCHELLO - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
September 07, 2011 - New York

The Yardbirds are more than a Rock band...they are an institution...which, in the brief period from 1963 to 1968, made an indelible mark on the "Shapes of Things" to come.

To the casual music fan, The Yardbirds are best known as the band that honed the skills of future "guitar gods" Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page; and for their slew of chart hits, including "For Your Love," "Heart Full of Soul", "I'm A Man", and "Over Under Sideways Down". However, led by core members and songwriters Jim McCarty (drums), Chris Dreja (rhythm guitar/bass) and the late Keith Relf (vocals/harmonica), the band's experimental explorations also provided the crucial link between British R&B, Psychedelic Rock, and Heavy Metal, while pioneering the use of innovations like fuzz tone, feedback and distortion. Even their 1968 break-up set the stage for Rock `n' Roll's future...leading Jimmy Page to form the New Yardbirds, later re-christened Led Zeppelin.

Reuniting decades later, McCarty and Dreja brought The Yardbirds boldy into the 21st Century with the 2003 release of the acclaimed CD "Birdland", which featured guest appearances from the likes of Brian May, Joe Satriani, Slash and Steve Vai. And continuing their tradition of developing future British superstars, The Yardbirds debuted a new line-up July 2009 in North America, featuring the raw talents of Ben King (lead guitar), David Smale (bass) and Andy Mitchell (vocals/harmonica).

EDWIN McCAIN BAND - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
September 08, 2011 - New York

Taking the stage for what's easily the 100th time in almost as many days, Edwin McCain casually joins his band as they start off another set that's impossibly tight and laid back at the same time. By the time his vocals kick in, it's clear that this is no ordinary troubadour on the club circuit. This is Edwin McCain, the voice that is romance incarnate, has launched a thousand marriages and stirred up Southern soul for over 20 years.

For the guy who always dreamed of a life on the road, Edwin's massive pop hits "I'll Be" and "I Could Not Ask For More" were like pulling into glamorous, exciting towns along his never-ending tour. They were life changing and sent him off with incredible memories and nifty souvenirs but were always just a part of the journey, not the destination. "I've been lucky enough to experience a pretty broad range of stardom, and the lack thereof, throughout my journey as a musician," he once said with a chuckle. "I've been on television shows and won awards, but I've also lived in the back of a truck, and I've even worked the Drive-Thru at Krispy Kreme singing wedding songs."

Surprising to him more than anyone else, those very songs have endured beyond all wildest expectations, turning into wedding anthems and misty-eyed soundtracks to countless wedding proposals. Over a million Dr. Phil viewers voted "I'll Be" as the best wedding song ever written, the New York Times dubbed him the "great American romantic," and at any given moment on this very day a radio station in America is playing one of his songs. "They're kind of emotional road maps," Edwin explains, "and each one, especially if you're connected to it in some real way, can change and grow and lead you in new directions of thought." "But the highlight of what I do is playing for and connecting with the people that come out to see me live. The fans - and I hate to call them fans - the friends of music that survive the advertising campaign long enough to understand what music is truly about, and have incorporated my music into their lives to the point where it is are part of their memories and emotions - those are the ones I do it all for."

This philosophy, this innate ability to write songs that somehow every listener claims as their own, is not just reserved for the love songs but also in the soul-drenched party songs that fans fill the clubs to hear. The ones that weave seamlessly in and out of Edwin's versions of his own personal favorites like the Drifters' "Some Kind of Wonderful" and the Temptations' "I Can't Get Next To You," his unabashed love for vintage soul is worn on proudly on his guitar strap.

His reverence - and talent - for great songwriting eventually found a partner in fellow tunesmith Maia Sharp. The two have played a musical game of ping pong throughout the years, writing songs for each others' albums then returning the favor, then back again. Among their favorites are "Say Anything," which Maia also sings on, and the new "Walk With You." "When Maia and I decided to write together again," recalls Edwin, "I said let's just start out with this song for a friend's daughter who's getting married, do a little song not for public consumption, just a nice song he can have for his daughter and a it'll be a good warm up for us to start writing the `real stuff.'"

But "Walk With You" quickly took on a life of its own. "We had one of those `wow' moments," he continues, "and it sort of grew from that. By the end of the recording session, even the engineer in the studio was tearing up and you can't get a more jaded guy that the engineer who hears every single song out there." But the real test was putting it before an audience. "Performing it at the wedding wasn't a really fair gauge," McCain admits. "So I started putting it into my touring set list, and was floored when the crowds erupted mid-song. That just doesn't happen with new songs." A new classic in the making, "Walk With You" is already looking like a shiny new town beckoning to Edwin on his latest tour.

"It's not about chart positions or record sales or anything like that," insists the man with 11 albums, a wall of platinum and gold albums that have sold in the millions, and reams of Top 10, 20 and 40 hits, "it just has to do with people coming together and sharing a moment, that's it. And that's all I ever wanted to do. I just love that moment in the small club and bar where every single person in there has a moment where it's silent and they get it and it's beautiful, that moment where the music that's coming off the stage is much more than the players and much more than the audience and something happens and you're sitting there and your hair stands up. That's it, man. I love it."

A Night At The Rock Show starring Constantine Maroulis - Highline Ballroom
September 09, 2011 -

Constantine Maroulis is currently starring in the national tour of the Tony Award Nominated Best Musical, ROCK OF AGES, and received a best actor Tony nomination for his role as Drew. The critics agree that ROCK OF AGES struck gold with Constantine.

Constantine helped make American Idol's Season 4 one of the most memorable to date. His delivery of the Queen classic "Bohemian Rhapsody" electrified audiences and became that year's must see performance and caught the attention of Brian May, who personally asked him to sing the song on the "Killer Queen" Tribute CD (Hollywood Records). In addition to headlining the Idol's sold out Live Summer Tour with that year's winner Carrie Underwood, Constantine has continued to tour extensively around the country solo since the show. However Idol wasn't his first stage experience, having graduated The Boston Conservatory and apprenticed at the The Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2002, Maroulis had performed in several productions prior to landing the lead role of Roger in the national tour of the hit musical RENT just before making it as a finalist on Idol and beating out millions of hopefuls auditioning.

Maroulis made his Broadway debut in the Tony Nominated 2007 production of "Wedding Singer" and after quickly followed up co-starring in Off Broadway's critically acclaimed production of "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris." Television came back into his life with CBS's "The Bold and The Beautiful," in a role specially created for him and based in part off his real life. The show featured new songs from his debut album "Constantine" which he was released last year on his very own Record Label, "Sixth Place Records" via (SONY/Red) to critical acclaim. Prior to that his version of "My Funny Valentine" helped make the CD, American Idol "The Showstoppers" RIAA Certified Gold (RCA).

Constantine is currently developing new material for a future release. Other credits include, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Tonight Show, Ellen, The Today Show, Howard Stern, Fox n' Friends, Regis & Kelly, Mike & Juliet, MTV and many more. He has also served as Co-Host on GDNY, Yahoo Buzz Session, MTV's Little Talent Show and American Idol Extra on The FOX Reality Channel. LEE 'SCRATCH' PERRY - B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
September 10, 2011 - New York

Some call him a genius, others claim he's certifiably insane, a madman. Truth is, he's both, but more importantly, Lee "Scratch" Perry is a towering figure in reggae - a producer, mixer, and songwriter who, along with King Tubby, helped shape the sound of dub and made reggae music such a powerful part of the pop music world. Along with producing some of the most influential acts (Bob Marley & the Wailers and the Congos, to name but two) in reggae history, Perry's approach to production and dub mixing is breathtakingly innovative and audacious - no one else sounds like him - and while many claim that King Tubby invented dub, there are just as many who would argue that no one has experimented with it or has taken it further than Lee Perry.
