Water Taxi Beach Announces Summer 2010 Entertainment Schedule

During the hours when there is no entertainment scheduled, the Beaches will play popular music as dictated by the crowd.

WTB/SSS will open on Friday, April 30 at 4:00pm. Beach Hours at South Street Seaport (North side of Pier 17, facing the Brooklyn Bridge): Mondays through Thursdays, 4:00pm to 10:00pm; Wednesdays, 4:00pm until 1:00am; Fridays, 4:00pm to 3:00am; Saturdays, 1:00pm to 3:00am (or later); Sundays, 1:00pm until 12:00am. The Beach will close for the season on October 3.

Mondays & Tuesdays: Beach opens at 4:00pm. Popular music.

Wednesdays, May 19-September 22: Beach opens at 4:00pm. Jellybean Benitez “Ain’t Nuthin But a House Party” - Blend of house mixed with classic disco like only Jellybean can do. Average admission: $10*, beginning at 8:00pm. Will vary depending upon special guest artists. 21+ after 8:00pm.

Fridays, April 30-October 1: Beach opens at 4:00pm. Classic disco and Latin dance music curated by Eddie Batiz. Small live Latin combos and DJs. Average Admission: $10, beginning at 7:00pm. 21+ after 7:00pm. Admission may vary.

Saturdays, May 1-October 2: Beach opens at 1:00pm. On the Waterfront - Melting Pot Global Music Series. World-renowned DJ’s, premier singers, dancers, videos and poets in the global soul dance music scene. Melting Pot Global resident DJs Kervyn Mark, Kamala and famous DJ friends will play the best in global, soulful house, disco classics, soul and funk to the late night hours. Highlight of the season - "Paradise Under the Stars - The Paradise Garage Reunion". Admission: $10, beginning at 8:00pm. 21+ after 8:00pm.

Sundays, May 2-October 3. Beach opens at 1:00pm. DJ Ruben "Latin Bull" Toro/Temple Movement - May 2, May 16, June 20, July 11, August 8, August 29, September 5, September 19. For the past 6 years, Temple Movement, founded by resident DJ Rubin Toro (a mainstay on 98.7 Kiss FM) has been the City's biggest underground dance party. This summer, Toro is bringing Temple Movement to Water Taxi Beach South Street Seaport Expect the essence of the past with the music and feeling of Paradise Garage, Loft, Shelter and more of the clubs from back in the day with a twist of today.

Basic NYC, helmed by New York DJs Sleepy & Boo - May 9, May 23, June 6, June 13, June 27, July 18, July 25, August 1, August 15, August 22, September 12 and September 26. DJs Sleepy & Boo bring the sounds of the underground to Water Taxi Beach South Street Seaport for a dynamic series of Sunday sunset sessions. Featuring a diverse lineup of international guest DJs, manning the turntables alongside New York locals, these events offer dance music lovers a chance to see some of the world’s most esteemed DJs performing in one of the Big Apple’s most stunning locations.

Entertainment starts at 4:00pm.  Admission: $10*, beginning at 7:00pm. 21+ after 7:00pm.

WTB/LIC will open on Saturday, May 1 from 12:00pm to 3:00am. Beach hours at Long Island City: Monday through Thursday (starting June 7) from 4:00pm to 10:00pm. Fridays (starting May 7) from 4:00pm to 3:00am. Saturdays (starting May 1) from 12:00pm to 3:00am. Sundays (starting May 30) from 1:00pm to 10:00pm.

Fridays, May 7-September 10: Beach opens at 4:00pm. I'll House You! Friday’s with Oscar P & Friends - Friday, May 7, May 21, June 11, June 18, July 2, July 9, July 23, August 20, September 3, September 17, September 24. 6pm - 2am. New York natives Oscar P, Carlos Ortiz and Jessica Bendig host this new bi-monthly Party at Water Taxi Beach, Long Island City with special guest DJs flying in from London, Japan, Amsterdam, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Also expect NY local DJ showcases featuring hot up & comers, pioneers, and house music trendsetters.

Turntables on the Hudson with Nicodemus and Nappy G - Friday May 14, May 28, June 4, June 25, July 16, July 30, August 13, August 27, September 10. 6pm-2am. In its 12th Season of outdoor summer events, Turntables on the Hudson is happy to announce its bi-weekly Friday night events @ Water Taxi Beach Long Island City. As always, TOTH keeps it funky and fun for everyone as they take you on a musical circus ride around the World & back in the course of a night with DJ Nickodemus & guests + Nappy G on percussion & an occasional Brassband, Samba Drum Troupe. Saturdays, May 1- September 4. Beach opens at 12:00pm. House music by Victor Franco and special guest DJs including guest including Little Louie Vega, Louie Lou Gorbea, and Dennis Ferrer.  Average admission: $10* after 8:00p, may vary with special guest artists. 21+ after 8:00pm.

Sundays, May 30 – September 26. Beach opens at 1:00pm. Pacha at the Beach, featuring internationally known DJs. Heavy bass electronic dance music. Average admission: $30 - $50*, beginning at 1:00pm. Will vary depending upon special guest artists. 21+ only.
