The number one Travel podcast on iTunes belongs to The Bowery Boys, who weave stories of old New York. Now their storytelling prowess is on its way to print, with the spring release of an official podcast companion book, The Bowery Boys’ Adventures in Old New York: An Unconventional Exploration of Manhattan's Historic Neighborhoods, Secret Spots and Colorful Characters.

“This is a history book unlike any other, telling the remarkable story of 'old' New York—the port town, the Revolutionary stronghold, the immigrant sanctuary, the Gilded Age city—using places that exist within it now,” says Greg Young, co-author with Tom Meyers, who together have been hosting the show since its 2007 debut.
In the 200 episodes since, The Bowery Boys have gone on to cover topics like “Haunted Landmarks of New York,” “Electric New York: Edison and the City Lights,” and “Danger in the Harbor: The Black Tom Explosion of 1916.”
The new book provides a tour of hidden New York, touching on everything from Dutch forts to Gilded Age mansions, and providing opportunities to re-look at familiar landmarks like Grand Central and Times Square.
The Bowery Boys: Adventures in Old New York will tell the alternative history of NYC, making use of the hidden traces of the old city that still remain. The book, from Ulysses Press, will be released on May 10, 2016.
