It's fall in NYC and that means Halloween is just around the corner! There’s something for everyone, from a haunted pumpkin garden at NYBG, great events in NYC parks, the 41st annual NYC Halloween Parade in Greenwich Village, adult festivities with New York Water Taxi, Highline Ballroom and more. HALLOWEEN HARVEST 

Join Luna Park in Coney Island on weekends now through October 26 for family-friendly activities, fall decorations and more. Luna Park’s Halloween Harvest features pumpkin picking and painting and FREE activities like trick or treating, daily entertainment, costumed characters, caricature artists, balloon benders and twisters, magicians, one of NYC’s largest pumpkins and more!

Amateur competitive eaters unite in Luna Park's annual pie eating competition. Battle competitors and consume as much pie as you can for the chance to win $250! 2pm-4pm.

LOLA STAR's DREAMLAND ROLLER DISCO: THRILLER HALLOWEEN EXTRAVAGANZA-MICHAEL JACKSON SKATE PARTY AT PROSPECT PARK

The DJ will spin 80s tunes from John Hughes film soundtracks, roller disco grooves, and Disco classics. Come enjoy dazzling performances, a costume contest with a fabulous prize from Lola Star Souvenir Boutique on the Coney Island Boardwalk, and a dance skate competition with moves that will blow your mind! BATS AT BELVEDERE

Learn about bats that live in Central Park through an educational presentation with live bats.  Also learn from the Organization for Bat Conservation, how to spot and identify our winged friends in their natural surroundings. Free, open to all ages, registration not required. Rain or shine. 6pm. Belvedere Castle in Central Park.

HALLOWEEN HARVEST: DOG PARADE

Costumes aren’t just for humans, dogs want to get in on the fun too! Bring your best friend for Luna Park's costume parade and costume contest. Have a delightful stroll through the park before hitting the catwalk. The winning dog gets a super bag of goodies and their human gets $100. 2pm-4pm.

HALLOWEEN HARVEST: PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST

Carve out time for Luna Park this fall and join us for the Pumpkin Carving Contest from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Participants will have 3 hours to put carve their vision into a 10lb pumpkin. Take part in or come watch the professionals duke it out while they carve em out for cash prizes! 2pm.

FALL KIDS FEST AT MADISON SQUARE PARK

We’re bringing back a few of our music favorites to grace the Mad. Sq. Kids stage along with a few new hits. Music, face painting and more. 11am-2pm.

HAUNTED HOUSE & CHILDREN'S FALL FESTIVAL AT QUEENS COUNTY FARM 


The Haunted House at Queens County Farm Museum is perfect for thrills and chills for the younger set! Hayrides, Halloween treats, mulled cider, pumpkins and apples will be sold. Adults will find it creepy too! 4pm-7pm daily. *On Oct. 26, Queens County Farm's Children's Fall Festival takes place, 11am-4pm.

SEE IT BIG! HORROR

Poltergeist

At the Museum of the Moving Image, as part of the ongoing series programmed with the online film magazine Reverse ShotSee It Big! Horror will feature six timeless big-screen classics: The Exorcist (1973), featuring the work of makeup master Dick Smith, who died earlier this year; the silent classics Nosferatu (1922), in a new digital restoration, and The Phantom of the Opera (1925), presented with live musical accompaniment; James Whale’s The Bride of Frankenstein (1935); Romero’s Night of the Living Dead (1968); and Poltergeist (1982). All films in this series will be shown in the Sumner M. Redstone Theater. Then, from 10/30-11/2, the Korean Horror Picture Show, will feature six contemporary films that showcase the resurgence of the Korean horror genre in recent years.

HAUNTED HIGH LINE HALLOWEEN 

Join Friends of the High Line for its fourth-annual, family-friendly Halloween celebration. Trick-or-treat with characters like the Mad Cookie Man and the West Side Cowboy, make giant art creations that banish giant fears, explore a haunted train tunnel made by students from the School of Visual Arts, and more. 11am-3pm.

CIRCLE LINE's HALLOWEEN BALL KIDS COSTUME CRUISE

Circle Line's specially themed children's cruises include live entertainment, photo ops with Lady Liberty, food and drinks, magicians, and giveaways. Boarding time, 9:30am. Sails, 10am-11am. 

GHOULS & GOURDS

Save the date to shake a tail feather, show off your costume, and carouse with colossal puppets at Brooklyn Botanic Garden's wackiest costume parade! Noon-5:30pm, rain or shine. Kids under 12 free. 

HALLOWEEN HARVEST FESTIVAL AT SOCRATES SCULPTURE PARK 

Make a costume with Socrates artists, listen to live music, enjoy a special art-making workshop with Free Style Arts Association, get your face painted by Agostino Arts, try harvest foods from local restaurants. and enter your dog in our ever popular Annual Juried Canine Costume Contest! 11am-3pm.

HAUNTED LANTERN TOURS AT FORT TOTTEN

Leave your fear at home as the Urban Park Rangers lead your family through the haunted Fort Totten Water Battery.  Participants must arrive on line by 6:15 p.m. for guaranteed admittance. 6:30pm-8:30pm

24TH ANNUAL TOMPKINS SQUARE HALLOWEEN DOG PARADE

NYC Halloween Dog Parade

Pooches let their alter-egos shine, putting on some of the cutest and most creative costumes you've ever seen at the annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade. CNN calls it "the largest dog costume parade in the world” with hundreds of dogs in costumes and thousands of spectators. This year's parade will be sponsored by Purina Beggin' with contestants competing for thousands of dollars in prizes. Noon-3pm. FREE.

HALLOWEEN PARADE AND PUMPKIN FLOTILLA , CENTRAL PARK

Enjoy spooky music, crafts, live pumpkin carving demonstrations, and of course the signature pumpkin flotilla, which sets sail across the Harlem Meer at twilight!

Due to the limited number of floats and space, pre-carved pumpkins will only be accepted between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., or until flotilla is full. No advance registration. Open to all ages. 3:30pm-6:30pm. FREE.

19TH ANNUAL HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION AT AMNH

Families can trick or treat in the Museum's iconic halls. The afternoon will include live performances by the David Grover Band and Louie and Subanda; The Big Apple Circus' "Dr. Finkelstein's Zombie Show"; a special appearance by the Big Nazo Lab, magic by Robert Austin, arts and crafts, origami, roaming characters including Clifford, Curious George, Miffy and Cookie Mouse. 4pm-7pm. $12 pp.

NYC'S 41ST ANNUAL VILLAGE HALLOWEEN PARADE

All those in costume are welcome to join hundreds of puppets, 53 bands of different types of music, dancers and artists, and thousands of other New Yorkers in costumes of their own creation in the nation's most wildly creative public participatory event. NYC will also honor SUPERHEROES — the REAL ones: those folks from Occupy Sandy who stepped up to help the city out of that disaster; the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center Transplant Team and Jeff Bratcher—longtime Parade volunteer—who donated a kidney to the Parade Director’s son;  and all those who have volunteered to marshal and animate giant puppets throughout the Parade long history and kept this humble arts organization going! Alert - ONLY enter the line-up on 6th Ave. from the East and South between Canal and Spring. 7-10pm.

INFERNO AT THE MCKITTRICK HOTEL 

The McKittrick Hotel, home of the production Sleep No More, celebrates the ‘seven deadly sins’ this Halloween with Infernotwo consecutive parties of costumed mayhem directly following the Thursday, October 30th and Friday, October 31st performances of Sleep No More.  The parties begin at 11pm.  An entirely original experience has been conceived for these evenings, which will include bottomless libations, live music, surprise guests DJs, and specially-crafted entertainment.  The evening will also feature, for guests who so desire, a ‘Last Supper’ dining experience by Chef R. L. King at The Heath, also inside the hotel.

The 2nd Annual Rotten Apple Roots and Bluegrass Halloween at Union Hall will be a non-stop show of the best Roots and Bluegrass the burgeoning Brooklyn folk revival scene has to offer. Murder ballads, banjos and candy. 8pm. $12.
