Gray Line New York's Ride of Fame Campaign Honors American Clothing Designer Kenneth Cole

Gray Line New York, New York City’s premier doubledecker bus and motorcoach tourism company, announces that legendary New York designer and social activist, Kenneth Cole, will be honored as this month’s Ride of Fame™ dedicatee. In a ribbon cutting ceremony at Pier 78 at 1:00 pm on November 29th, Ride of Fame’s inaugural fashion designer, Cole will unveil a personalized Gray Line New York bus with his likeness on the front of the vehicle, wearing his newly designed red ribbon as part of the MTV Come Together AIDS awareness Campaign that launched earlier this month.

Cole’s business, Kenneth Cole Productions, has risen to the top of American fashion at lightning speed. Beginning over 25 years ago out of the back of a 40-foot trailer, and has set the standards in the fashion world. Now, with nearly 90 Kenneth Cole domestic retail stores and 65 internationally, Cole has been able to unite his fashion instincts and business acumen with his philanthropic convictions.

Earlier this month, Cole partnered with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and amfAR on the reinterpretation of the iconic AIDS ribbon. Designed to commemorate the discovery of the virus 30 years ago, and to ignite a new wave of awareness about the pandemic with the next generation, the new AIDS ribbon, features a double loop, and symbolizes the coming together of individuals and the re-doubling of efforts in the fight against HIV and AIDS. In addition as part of this campaign, Cole will be announcing a call to action including the new AIDS ribbon on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2011.

"New York is a wonderfully energized and creative city. I continue to be inspired by its eclectic, diverse and accepting spirit. I am honored that Gray Line New York has made me a part of their Ride of Fame campaign, and I hope to continue contributing to what this great city stands for and stands in," said Cole.

Since 1926, Gray Line New York has been a proud staple of the New York City tourism industry, bringing visitors to all the must-see stops in New York City on its signature red double-decker tour buses. Now with its continuing Ride of Fame™ campaign, Gray Line New York is recognizing and honoring leading New Yorkers, whom they identify as exemplary community figures by bestowing a bus in their fleet to each dedicatee.

“We are very excited to have Kenneth Cole as the inaugural fashion designer for Gray Line New York’s Ride of Fame”, says David W. Chien, Director of Marketing for Gray Line New York. “Mr. Cole is also the first of our inductees to design his own bus wrap. We are very proud to honor such an iconic New Yorker and to don our bus with his creative talents, as well. We can’t wait to see what he has come up with!”

The dedication will include the revealing of Cole’s signature, open-top, red double-decker bus that millions of sightseers will be able to ride each day moving forward. Gray Line New York’s Ride of Fame™ campaign includes a monthly dedication with other commendable New Yorkers to follow. For more information, please visit www.newyorksightseeing.com.
