Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra Perform at BB Kings on May 7th, 2010

On Friday, May 7th at 8pm, enjoy an evening of contemporary world music with Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra at New York City's  B.B. King Blues Club & Grill (237 W. 42nd St.), located in Times Square. Tickets are $32 in advance; $37 day of show. Tickets can be purchased by calling 212-997-4144 or clicking here.

Gifted artists stand the test of time and Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra have recorded and toured for many years.  This year marks the twentieth anniversary for Ottmar's debut album "Nouveau Flamenco", released in April of 1990, and the twentieth year of Ottmar touring with Luna Negra.  Liebert has been regarded as 'the high bar' of modern, world, flamenco guitar.  Since 1990 he has released a total of 25 recordings including 14 CDs of original music, five of which were nominated for Grammys. Ottmar has sold over 5 million CD's in the U.S., and has 30 Gold and Platinum awards to his credit.

This spring and summer the band adds a string of performances with a new trio that features Jon Gagan on bass guitar and Michael Chavez on drumkit.  The new Luna Negra trio performed for the first time last September in Saratoga. Later they played in Japan for a week and everyone realized that this was a special group.  Ottmar started writing music tailored to the trio for a new recording.

On June 15th Ottmar's label SSRI will release a new album entitled "Petals On the Path" - recorded in Santa Fe at the end of February.  Ottmar recorded the album with the new trio "live in the studio", that is to say without a clicktrack, or any of the modern recording "tricks." While the music is modern and the recording of the highest quality (a high definition 24/88.2kHz version of the album will be available), the ethos of the recording dates back to the last century, and the way bands were recorded in the Sixties and Seventies.  More information to be released soon.

Treat yourself.  Enjoy Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra this Spring and Summer - and enjoy this truly amazing trio of players who stand the test of time.
