They’re back, and turning Off-Broadway’s legendary Minetta Lane Theatre into their own personal playground -- indefinitely! I’m talking, of course, about The Flying Karamazov Brothers and their euphorically loopy, technically stunning new show (Minetta Lane Theatre, 18 Minetta Lane (6th Ave. & MacDougal St.), 800-982-2787; www.fkb.com).
For those unfamiliar with this no-holds-barred troupe of neo-vaudevillians (Paul Magid, Mark Ettinger, Rod Kimball, and Stephen Bent), you have much to look forward to thanks to their madcap mix of music (using instruments both traditional and invented), dance, theater, juggling, and massive hilarity (pies in the face de rigueur).
And just to prove “off-the-wall” is a reality vs. a suggestion on planet Karamazov, theatergoers are encouraged to show up with all sorts of oddball objects for the quartet to fling, juggle and otherwise improvise with in a style that has been called “100 minutes of cleverness and comedy that go by in a flash” by The New York Times.
