This Week's Off-Broadway Openings: August 23rd-August 29th

Den of Thieves - A black comedy in which Maggie is a newly single, junk-food-binging shoplifter looking to change her life and her self-hating ways. Paul is her convicted, formerly compulsive-overeating sponsor in a 12-step program for recovering thieves and Flaco is her jealous ex-boyfriend who spins a yarn about $750,000 in unprotected drug money sitting in a safe in a downtown disco. This would-be criminal crew is rounded out by Flaco's new girlfriend, Boochi, a topless dancer with a third-grade reading level. When things don't quite go according to plan, this quartet of hapless thieves find themselves at the mercy of Louie "The Little Tuna" Pescatore and wrapped up a high-octane battle for survival.

It Must Be Him - In this new comedy by Kenny Solms, Louie Wexler, a down-on-his-luck former whiz kid comedy writer from the heyday of variety TV, finds himself broke, lonely, and on the wrong side of middle age. Desperate to rekindle his fading career, save his Beverly Hills home and find the man of his dreams, he searches for one last shot at his own real-life happy ending. Starring Peter Scolari, Liz Torres, John Treacy Egan. Stephanie D’Abruzzo, David Margulies and Alice Playton.

Me, Myself & I - In three-time Pulitzer-/three-time Tony-winning playwright Edward Albee’s farce, Mother can't tell her identical twins apart. But when Otto announces his brother doesn't exist, the household descends into chaos. Starring Elizabeth Ashley and Brian Murray.
