Come celebrate the life and legacy of legendary guitarist Cornell Dupree at B.B. King Blues Club! A staple on the jazz, rock, and R&B recording scenes for many years, Dupree lent his distinctive bluesy style to over 2,500 recording sessions over the course of his career. He recorded prolifically with artists like Aretha Franklin as a member of King Curtis and the Kingpins. His signature guitar lines are instantly recognizable in many of the R&B legend's biggest hits, including "Respect." He also performed and/or recorded with Paul Simon, Ringo Starr, Miles Davis, B. B. King, Joe Cocker, Wilson Pickett, Barbra Streisand, Laura Nyro, Bonnie Raitt, Mariah Carey, and countless other artists. In addition to his prodigious work as a sideman, Dupree also led a storied career as a leader. Together with other members of Franklin's backing band, he was a member of the fusion supergroup Stuff, with which he recorded several albums. Tonight, a host of outstanding artists will pay tribute to Dupree, including guitar greats Steve Cropper, Ray Parker Jr., John Scofield, Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar, and Bob Mann; The Gadd Gang, featuring Steve Gadd, Eddie Gomez, Ronnie Cuber, and Leon Pendarvis; Stuff, featuring Gordon Edwards and Jimmy Smith; The Soul Survivors, featuring Buddy Williams and Frank Canino, and special guests Bernard Purdie, Willie Weeks, Randy Brecker, Lenny Pickett, Will Lee, Chris Parker, Steve Jordan, and many more surprises.
