Born in Harlem, NY, R&B and soul singer Keith Sweat once worked an ordinary job for the commodities market in the New York Stock Exchange. He sang at nightclubs until he was discovered in 1987. In November of that year, Sweat released his debut album Make It Last Forever, which sold four million copies. The biggest hit from this album was the chart-topping "I Want Her," and the title track from the album also hit No. 2 on the R&B charts. Sweat continued to chart fairly well with his sophomore album I'll Give All My Love To You (1990), which hit No. 3 on the Billboard charts. Keep It Comin' (1991), his next release, debuted in the Top 20 of the Billboard album chart.
Sweat released his fourth album Get Up On It in the summer of 1994. He followed with his self-titled fifth album in 1996, which hit No. 5 on the Billboard 200. The single "Twisted" hit No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Nobody" reached No. 3. Subsequent releases included Still In The Game (1998), Didn't See Me Coming (2000), Rebirth (2002, featuring the single "One on One"), and Just Me (2008). Sweat also formed the R&B super group LSG with Gerald Levert and Johnny Gill, releasing the group's self-titled debut Levert.Sweat.Gill in 1997. That album was certified double platinum and featured the track "My Body," which became a huge hit single.
In addition to his efforts as a vocalist, Sweat has also been active as a producer. In 1992, he discovered the group Silk and helped craft its debut album Lose Control, which hit No. 7 on the Billboard 200 album chart and featured the hit single "Freak Me." Sweat produced R&B group Kut Klose's debut album Surrender (1995), which produced the popular track "I Like." He has also produced songs for artists like Men At Large, Dru Hill, Immature, Ol' Skool, and The Isley Brothers. In addition, he hosts a nationally syndicated radio program entitled The Keith Sweat Hotel. His 11th album Til the Morning dropped in 2011.
