The writer-director, creator, executive producer, and star of the HBO series Girls reads from and discusses her new collection of personal essays with author Zadie Smith. In Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She's "Learned", Dunham tells stories "about wonderful nights with terrible boys and terrible days with wonderful friends, about ambition and the two existential crises I had before the age of twenty. About fashion and its many discontents. About publicly sharing your body, having to prove yourself in a meeting full of fifty-year-old men, and the health fears (tinnitus, lamp dust, infertility) that keep me up at night."
Fellow Girls cast member Jemima Kirke will join Dunham for the reading and the discussion is followed by a Q&A. All audience members receive a signed copy of the book.
Venue Description: A multi-arts center located in Brooklyn, offering theater, dance, music, opera, film, and more from emerging artists and innovative modern masters.
