In this new musical adventure based on the popular PBS KIDS® television series, Sid and his friends take an incredible journey through the five senses: sight, sound, taste, smell and touch, and discover that there’s a very special super duper sixth sense!  Join Sid, Gabriela, Gerald, May, and Teacher Suzie as they explore, ask questions, and share lots of interactive moments with the audience through special sensory effects that fill the theater.  Featuring music from the hit TV show and content based in national science learning, this high-energy musical will bring out the curious scientist in every child. The performance is recommended for ages three and up.

Following the performance, BCBC will host its seventh annual National Grid Earth Day Celebration on the plaza outside Walt Whitman Theatre.  Featuring interactive family activities, educational materials, street performers and giveaways, this free community festival will highlight the need for conserving energy, recycling, and heightening awareness of the environmental global issues that we face today.

Sid the Science Kid – Live! was created for the stage by Michael Lewis (veteran Broadway performer and producer of ImaginOcean), John Tartaglia (creator and writer of ImaginOcean and Tony Award-nominated actor), and The Jim Henson Company.  The production is directed by John Tartaglia and features the talents of Kristin Charney (voice of May), Emily Derrick (Sid), Alice Dinnean (voice of Gabriela), Angelina Leis (Teacher Susie), Drew Massey (voice of Sid), Danielle Strauss (May), Michelle West (Gerald), Sherrell Whitmire (Gabriela), and Victor Yerrid (voice of Gerald).  The production team includes Ken Goldstein (scenic design), Annmarie Duggan (lighting design) and Shannon Lewis (choreography).  The show features a book by Joe Purdy and puppet design and fabrication by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

The Sid the Science Kid television series is an educational animated show produced by The Jim Henson Company for PBS KIDS®.  It uses comedy and music to promote exploration, discovery, and science readiness among preschoolers.  This landmark production of 66 half-hour episodes debuted on September 1, 2008, and has since been honored with five EMMY nominations and multiple awards including the most recent CINE Golden Eagle Award.
