Daniele Gatti drew praise from audience members and critics alike when he led the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall's Opening Night Gala in 2009. They return to the Carnegie Hall stage, performing Wagner with luminous mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung -- the start of a three-night stay.
One of the world's great interpreters of Sibelius's music, Osmo Vanska leads the Minnesota Orchestra through a must-hear cycle of the Finnish composer's seven symphonies, some of the greatest works of the 20th century. This concert includes his jovial Third Symphony, as well as two of his most contrasting works -- the ominous brooding and bleak desolation found in his Fourth Symphony and the triumph of his expansively heroic Fifth.
Venue Description: One of the most famous performance spaces in the world, and where the biggest orchestras in the world play when they come to New York City. They also offer neighborhood concerts throughout the year, tours of the historic halls, music programming, festivals, and more.
