The Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter is hosting an important Family Caregiver Workshop to help Brooklyn family caregivers cope with the demands and stress of caring for someone who has dementia. The 10-hour education program will take place at Catholic Charities’ Benson Ridge Senior Services in Brooklyn on four consecutive Thursday afternoons: Thursday, March 8, 2012, Thursday, March 15, 2012; Thursday, March 22, 2012, and Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 12:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Attendance is required at all four sessions.
The program will be presented by experts from the New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and will cover important topics including:
• How to improve communication with someone who has dementia/Alzheimer’s; • How to understand and manage behaviors associated with Alzheimer’s disease; and • Activities that will help improve your life and the life of the person you are caring for.
