On Monday, November 14, actress Angie Harmon (Rizzoli & Isles) will light the UNICEF Snowflake at a special ceremony in front of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City. The ceremony will feature performances by the talented cast of the Broadway musical, Jersey Boys and for the fourth consecutive year, the Broadways Kids Care Choir, a group of talented young Broadway actors and philanthropists. Jersey Boys will sing selections from their newly released holiday album, “Seasons Greetings: A Jersey Boys Christmas.”

Hanging above the intersection of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, the giant UNICEF Snowflake features 16,000 Baccarat crystals and is a beloved holiday fixture of the New York City holiday season. Annually, the UNICEF Snowflake illuminates the intersection of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue as a reminder of UNICEF’s commitment to reach a day when zero children die from preventable causes.

Designed by Ingo Maurer, the ornament was dedicated to UNICEF in 2001 by the Stonbely Family Foundation. This year’s lighting ceremony will also serve as a celebration leading up to Universal Children’s Day, a U.N. designated day of activity and awareness devoted to the well-being of all children around the word, taking place on November 20.
