Chicago-based indie pop quartet The Hush Sound was formed in 2004 by Greta Salpeter (piano and vocals) and Bob Morris (vocals and guitar). Although initially deemed an odd pair (Morris was a rock musician and Salpeter a classical pianist), the two began making music together, and by early 2005 they were looking to expand their roster. They recruited drummer Darren Wilson and bassist Chris Faller, and The Hush Sound was born. Incidentally, the band initially took the name "The Hush" but changed to its current moniker when Geffen Records objected that the abbreviated name was too similar to that of rapper Hush. Bassist Mike Leblanc eventually replaed Faller in 2008.
