On Wednesday, September 21st, the James Beard Foundation’s Beard on Books, an ongoing monthly literary series, will feature Dorie Greenspan, author of Around My French Table: More Than 300 Recipes from My Home to Yours.
As a recipient of the James Beard Award for Baking, Dorie Greenspan decided to write a book about another one of her passions: France. Having lived in Paris part-time for over a decade, Dorie Greenspan focuses her book around what French people are actually cooking at home. The recipes given are easy to prepare as well as suitable for any time of day and contain tips for how to serve each dish and store leftovers.
With 300 enticing recipes that combine traditional and modern recipes, Dorie Greenspan shows how simple a good meal can be. In addition to each recipe, there are answers to common questions about cooking as well as tips on special ways to prepare classic French foods ranging from mussels to beets.
Beard on Books, an ongoing monthly literary series featuring readings and discussions with some of the food world’s most celebrated authors, is free to students with a suggested donation of $20 for nonstudents. Acqua Panna and S.Pellegrino waters, illy caffè, Mighty Leaf Tea, and Green & Black’s® Organic Chocolate will be served. Sweets provided by Three Tarts. Guests are also welcome to bring a brown-bag lunch. Books will be available for purchase from Mobile Libris.
