In partnership with the New York Flamenco Festival, Jazz at Lincoln Center presents an ensemble led by the magisterial Andalusian Gitano guitarist Tomatito, whose thrilling performance blends the earthy sound of classical flamenco and the sophisticated harmonic template of modern jazz. A teenage protege of the legendary cantante Camaron de la Isla and the iconic guitarist Paco DeLucia, Tomatito -- whose 2010 release Sonata Suite earned him his second Latin Grammy Award is a key figure in coalescing flamenco vocabulary with North African and Afro-Caribbean idioms, and in extending flamenco's range via consequential collaborations.
