This Trinidadian grande dame of vintage calypso packed such a punch as she rose to fame in the mid-60s, the coveted title "Calypso King" became "Calypso Monarch" in her honor. Into her seventh decade, Calypso Rose's bold delivery, fearless and funny social commentary, and welcoming warmth on stage make it a hip-shaking Carnival night whenever she plays.
