For this rare New York appearance, Emmanuelle Haim leads her Baroque ensemble, Le Concert d'Astree, in Handel's infrequently heard Aci, Galatea e Polifemo, the Italian-language predecessor to his most renowned English opera, Acis and Galatea. Based on Ovid's Metamorphoses, the cyclops Polyphemus kills Acis in a fit of jealousy, but the divine nymph Galatea turns her departed love into Sicily's Acis River, immortalizing their story in the flowing of time. Part of the 2013 White Light Festival.
