Night conveys darkness, secrets, betrayal, absence. But it is also a time for metamorphosis and self-discovery. In this staged production by Juliette Deschamps, acclaimed Italian soprano Anna Caterina Antonacci portrays a love-crazed woman who redefines herself as she heals her own broken existence, bringing to life tender works by Monteverdi, Giramo, and Barbara Strozzi, the most prolific composer of secular vocal music in mid-17th-century Venice. Part of the 2013 White Light Festival.
