LeAp, or Learning through an Expanded Arts Program, is a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of public education through a hands-on, arts-based approach to teaching the academic curriculum. In May, LeAp launched the largest student exhibition in New York City parks' history with a public art exhibition in Union Square titled A View from the Lunchroom: Students Bringing Issues to the Table. The exhibition is on view in Manhattan at Marcus Garvey Park at 121st Street and Madison Avenue and at Central Park at 85th Street at the basketball courts, in Staten Island at Snug Harbor Cultural Center at Richmond Terrace and Tysen Street and at Willowbrook Park at Richmond Avenue at Eton Place, in Brooklyn at Detective Joseph Mayrose Park at 7th Avenue between 17th-18th Streets and at Kaiser Park at Neptune Avenue and West 27th Street, in Bronx at Van Cortlandt Park at Van Cortlandt Park South and Review Place and Claremont Park at Teller Avenue and Morrise Avenue, and in Queens at Juniper Valley Park at Juniper Boulevard South and 78th Street and at Forest Park at Myrtle Avenue and Park Lane South. Runs through the end of August.
