Venue Description: The New York Botanical Garden is a museum of plants, an educational institution, and a scientific research organization. Founded in 1891 and now a National Historic Landmark, it is one of the greatest botanical gardens in the world and the largest in any city in the United States. Home to the largest herbarium in the Western Hemisphere, the Botanical Garden's curated living collections contain more than 1 million plants. The greenhouses and the conservatory -- a New York City Landmark -- is the largest Victorian-era glasshouse in America. Set apart by the beauty of its sprawling 250-acre landscape and extensive collections and gardens, as well as by the scope and excellence of its programs in horticulture, education, and science, its Children's Education program has been a pioneer in innovative, informal science discovery facilities and activities; and its scientific research on plants and fungi is unmatched in scale, depth, and authority. The Garden includes the most important botanical and horticultural library in the world and a wealth of programs, exhibitions, and activities for visitors to enjoy. The grounds display masterpieces, some dating to the 1840s, by many of the nation's most accomplished architects and designers, both past and contemporary.

The New York Botanical Garden is located at 200th Street and Kazimiroff Boulevard in the Bronx, just 20 minutes from Grand Central Station on the Metro-North Railroad. The Garden is open year-round, Tuesday to Sunday, 10am-6pm. The Garden is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Mondays, and may close early on other holidays. Grounds-Only Admission can only be purchased on site and fees are $6 for adults, $5 for adult Bronx residents, $3 for seniors and students with a valid ID, $1 for children 2 to12 years old and free for children under two years old. Grounds admission is free to everyone all day on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am-12 pm. The New York Botanical Garden is committed to making its exhibitions, programs, and services accessible to all who visit. Wheelchairs are available to be borrowed free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis at the Mosholu Gate Ticket Booth and the Leon Levy Visitor Center Information Booth. Reservations are not accepted and an ID must be left with Visitor Services for the duration of the visit.
