Tue 7pm, Wed 7:30pm, Thu-Fri 8pm, Sat 2 and 8pm, Sun 2 and 7pm (Exception: Wed 2/15 7pm) Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's legendary musical runs backwards in time from 1980 to 1955, examines the lives of three people whose friendship is tested by time, ambition and fate. It includes some of Sondheim's most brilliant and bruising songs, including "Not a Day Goes By," "Old Friends" and "Our Time." Frequent Sondheim collaborator James Lapine, who directed the show's 1985 run, returns to direct the Encores! production.
Venue Description: Built in 1943, NY City Center was Manhattan's first performing arts center, dedicated by Mayor Fiorello La Guardia. Today, City Center is home to many distinguished companies, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, City Center's Principal Dance Company, as well as Manhattan Theatre Club and New York City Opera; a roster of renowned national and international visiting artists; and its own critically acclaimed and popular programs, including the Tony-honored Encores! musical theater series, Encores!
