For the first time since 1996, Pacific Northwest Ballet's full company returns to New York and City Center, under the direction of artistic director Peter Boal. Accompanied by Music Director/Principal Conductor Emil de Couand the acclaimed PNB Orchestra, the company will present two programs: A mixed repertoire of blockbuster Balanchine ballets, and Jean-Christophe Maillot's full-length Romeo et Juliette.
Venue Description: Built in 1943, NY City Center was Manhattan's first performing arts center, dedicated by Mayor Fiorello La Guardia. Today, City Center is home to many distinguished companies, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, City Center's Principal Dance Company, as well as Manhattan Theatre Club and New York City Opera; a roster of renowned national and international visiting artists; and its own critically acclaimed and popular programs, including the Tony-honored Encores! musical theater series, Encores! Off-Center, the annual Fall for Dance Festival, and more.
