The DiMenna Children's History Museum at the New-York Historical Society is having its second annual Family Benefit Party - History Surprises! Parents and their children (ages 4-14) will discover the past together, with tailor-made and meaningful hands-on activities, experiences, and food. As part of the fun-packed events, kids will uncover the shock of Cubist art, attend a ground-breaking African Free School, visit a life-altering Civil War recruitment office, and discover the new American game of baseball.
Families will also have the opportunity to take over the New-York Historical Society's magnificent galleries and explore special exhibitions on view, including Beauty's Legacy: Gilded Age Portraits in America and The Armory Show at 100: Modern Art and Revolution.
The event will help the New-York Historical Society and the DiMenna Children's History Museum to continue to provide one-of-a-kind opportunities for children and families to discover our nation's history. Through interactive museum experiences and unique family programming, as well as school programs serving students in school and in the museum, the New-York Historical Society annually serves more than 40,000 family visitors, 200,000 New York City school students, and thousands of teachers. In addition, the Family Benefit helps the New-York Historical Society care for a priceless collection, made fully accessible to the public.
