The Barnard Project was the first university partnership of its kind, pairing curated artists from a renowned presenting institution, Dance Theater Workshop, with Barnard College and Columbia University dance students in a semester-long residency environment. Since its inception the program has commissioned 26 new works. Now in its seventh year, The Barnard Project offers choreographers and their selected casts the opportunity to work in a laboratory setting that emphasizes shared process. The resulting new works by 2011 – 2012 artists Ivy Baldwin, Sidra Bell, David Parker, and Susan Rethorst will premiere at New York Live Arts.
