They followed that record with the War Oracle, adding vocals for the first time. The band has headlined many NYC venues: the Cutting Room, Rockwood Music Hall. the Zinc Bar, Pianos, Crash Mansion, Sullivan Hall, the Gershwin Hotel, and The Fez. In 2009 they expanded to a sextet for King Mystery which received heavy radio airplay and then to an octet for 2011's Keys To the City, which spent a month in Top Ten of the CMJ Jazz Chart. With Black Hole in One they've returned to the original trio format, Richard Hammond, electric bass, joining original members Pat Daugherty, piano, and Aaron Comess, drums. Pat Daugherty first took his Fender Rhodes on tour with Gil Scott-Heron. He has written all the music and words for NYEP's six CDs. His compositions have been in feature films, appear 7 nights a week in the Blue Man Group show, and in the repertoire of the Martha Graham Dance Co., with whom he toured as pianist for 10 years. He has recorded with Snoop Dogg, Princess Superstar and Vasco Da Gama, and toured with Banyan featuring Stephen Perkins and Rob Wasserman. His artwork is featured on many of NYEP's releases, including Black Hole in One. Aaron Comess is a founding and current member of the Spin Doctors. He has released 4 CDs under his own name and leads two active projects: the Aaron Comess Trio/Quintet and the Air Conditioned Gypsies, which features a rotating cast of NYC's finest musicians. He also plays and records frequently with Joan Osborne, James Maddock, Roswell Rudd, and Marius Müller-Westernhagen. Aaron draws on his wide pallet to propel this Black Hole in One. Richard Hammond grew up in New Zealand where he became an in demand player on the acoustic and electric bass before moving to the U.S. when he was 22. He displays a unique range of electric bass sounds and effects on Black Hole in One. He has toured with Joan Osbourne, Patti Austin, and Tired Pony, and performed with the likes of Bono & the Edge, Carlos Santana, Brian Blade, and Levon Helm. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=238935 Rockwood Music Hall Rockwood Music Hall
