Written Images explores the role of traditional Islamic calligraphy and symbols in the contemporary Middle Eastern consciousness. For the artists in this exhibit, writing is more than the legible word; they use it as a pictorial, formal element to reference many issues - religious, social, political and personal.
All of the artists have achieved international recognition but are still gaining recognition in the United States.
