This concert kicks off Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival's 16th season. This year's festival features works by 18 composers and includes seven world premieres and a number of U.S. premieres performed by several of the country's top ensembles. Tonight's concert includes the U.S. premiere of Artistic Director Victoria Bond's Cyclops, a reimaging of a dramatic episode from James Joyce's Ulysses performed by the Manhattan Choral Ensemble, the Pulse Chamber Ensemble, actors from the Irish Repertory Theater, and visual artist Timothy Decker. Victoria Bond has long been fascinated by James Joyce's Ulysses and Cyclops is her latest setting of Joyce's text.
