The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, in partnership with the Petco Foundation, invites you to meet more than two hundred lovable and adoptable cats and dogs, all of whom need new homes, at its adoption event, Adoptapalooza. On Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., the north end of Manhattan’s Union Square Park will become New York City’s pet adoption capital, giving animal lovers the opportunity to adopt vaccinated and spayed/neutered furry friends on the spot. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own four-legged friends and speak to experts about pet health care and services around the City.

The family-friendly, free event will include an emergency preparedness clinic sponsored by the New York City Office of Emergency Management. Owners can have their pets microchipped for $25.00, register for a dog license, and learn how to prepare their pets for disasters.

The event also includes free vendor giveaways, training sessions for dogs with Petco trainers, and performances by celebrity animals including “Wally” the skateboarding dog and “Sandy,” the featured canine star of the upcoming Broadway musical “Annie the Musical.” Rock and Rawhide will be on hand collecting new pet toys and clean linens to donate to shelter animals.
