Add to Calendar 11-10-2012 04-11-2012 15 The Balcony by Jean Genet "The Balcony" by Jean Genet Presented by Horizon Theatre Rep Venue: The Arclight Theatre, 152 West 71st Street October 11 to November 4 Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 PM, Sundays at 3:00 PM Tickets $18 (tdf); Box office: SMARTTIX (212) 868-4444 or www.smarttix.com Running time: two hours. For more information, visit www.HTRonline.org Horizon Theatre Rep presents "The Balcony" by Jean Genet in Suits and Shirtsleeves. Genet's menacing and hilarious world of political intrigue, violent revolution and distorted eroticism is measured against the mass-media manipulation of today. Directed by Frank Licato, Horizon Theatre Rep will eschew the pomp of some historical productions. Instead, it will populate the chimerical classic with baby-kissing, pancake-eating, sleeves-rolled-up politicians who might be recognized from our current electoral campaigns. The idea is to illustrate the essential theme of the play: the transformation of our industrial society into a technocracy where image rules over substance. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=119104 The Arclight Theatre true DD/MM/YYYY
