Add to Calendar 28-11-2012 28-11-2012 15 GIVE ME A DAMN STAGE Repertorio Español and AENY - Spanish Artists in New York, with the support of Spain Culture New York-Consulate General of Spain, presents Give Me a Damn Stage! Staged Readings from Spanish Authors November 28, 2012 at REPERTORIO ESPAÑOL Give Me a Damn Stage: Staged Readings from Spanish Authors, a series of monthly staged readings, will introduce New Yorkers to some of the emerging playwrights from Spain and their most successful plays. Each reading will be presented by professional actors and directors from AENY - Spanish Artists in New York and Repertorio Español. The next installment of the series will include Cifras (Numbers) by Mar Gomez Glez, and Typing by Christina Colmena, and will take place at Repertorio Español, 138 East 27th Street, NYC, on November 28, 2012 at 7 PM. Free, general admission tickets are available online at www.repertorio.org/readings or by phone at 212-225-9999. Future readings include Dias Estupendos (Wonderful Days) by Alfredo Sanzol on December 3, 2012; and Marburg by Guillem Clua on January 7, 2013. ABOUT MAR GOMEZ GLEZ Mar Gomez Glez is a Spanish playwright and novelist. Her award-winning work has received global recognition, including the 2011 Calderon de la Barca Theatre Award, the 2008 Arte Joven Latina Award, and the 2007 Beckett Theatre Award. She is the author of the novel Cambio de sentido (2010, translated into English with the support of PEN American Center), the children’s book Acebedario (2006), and numerous other short stories and plays. Ms. Gomez Glez also authored Wearing Lorca’s Bowtie (AENY’s inaugural work which played Off-Broadway in December of 2011 at The Duke Theatre in NYC), and the site-specific piece 39 Defaults, which premiered at the Teatro Stage Fest in NYC in 2012. She is currently studying for a PhD, and is a Humanities Initiative Fellow at New York University. ABOUT CHRISTINA COLMENA Cristina Colmena, born in Seville, is the author of the short story collection La amabilidad de los extranos (Kindness of Strangers), and several of her short stories have appeared in a variety of literary magazines. With a B.A. in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism, she has worked as a producer and screenwriter for television and in cultural management. Having earned her M.F.A in Creative Writing from NYU, she writes fiction, theatre, and scripts for both cinema and television.
