WORDPLAY, the mid-winter festival presented by The Dessoff Choirs and Music Director, Christopher Shepard continues on Saturday, February 9 at 2pm with a public master class, Life of a Song, at the Ripley-Grier Studios, 520 Eighth Avenue. This master class offers a behind the scenes look at writing a musical. Award-winning composer Anna K. Jacobs and lyricist Bill Nelson discuss and share excerpts from their musical-in-progress, Harmony, Kansas. The team will provide artistic guidance to several aspiring composers, made up of students and young professional singer-songwriters, who were selected to present their pieces. Pieces written by the up-and-coming composers will be performed by members of The Dessoff Choirs. Dessoff’s second Mid-Winter Festival will be presented in various venues around New York City between January 15 and March 16. The closing program, A Night of Wonders features Pulitzer prize-winning author Geraldine Brooks. Dessoff provides the soundtrack with a sweeping selection of choral music spanning five centuries, as Ms. Brooks reads from four of her historical novels; Year of Wonders; People of the Book; Caleb’s Crossing; March. There will be a performance in Manhattan on March 15 and in Stamford, Connecticut on March 16.

TICKETS: $10-15, children under 12 free. For tickets, please visit dessoff.org.
