Sharma has enraptured audiences for over 50 years with his mastery of the santoor, a hammered dulcimer admired for its lush, shimmering sounds. A pioneering musician, he was responsible for developing the santoor into an important instrument in the North Indian classical repertoire. Hussain, whose dazzling rhythms have brought him to the forefront of Indian music, has achieved international fame with his inimitable performances. He is the favorite accompanist to India's leading classical musicians and dancers and holds a prominent role in the world music movement.
