Description: Most comets—those dazzling, mysterious visitors from the depths of space—turn out to be unimpressive sky objects, but in July 2011, astronomers in Hawaii using a special robotic telescope found a comet that shows some promise to put on a good show during March 2013. We can talk about the historical and scientific importance of comets and then, using the Zeiss IX projector, show just where to look for the new Comet PANSTARRS.
Venue Description: A museum for the 21st century, with a rich and storied past and one of the greatest natural history museums in the world, with over 40 exhibition halls. Open daily from 10am to 5:45pm except on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
