Add to Calendar 17-05-2013 17-05-2013 15 Fridays at Noon: Pauline Koner, American Original Pauline Koner was a pioneer and maverick in modern dance. She was the first American dancer to do a concert tour in the Soviet Union. She danced with Doris Humphrey and Jose Limon before forming her own company. She was open to opportunities beyond the concert stage, choreographing a Holiday on Ice review and creating dances and exploring the impact of the camera on choreography for CBS Television. She was also a member of the founding faculty of the North Carolina School of the Arts. For this review of her work, Fridays at Noon presents her landmark dance, inspired by Helen Keller, The Shining Dark, performed here by the 360 Dance Company; Poeme, a luminous and tender duet danced by Ryoko Kudo and Pablo Francisco Ruvalcaba of the Jose Limon Dance Company; and Concertino, about a woman and her ladies-in-waiting at a Renaissance court, performed by the Dancefusion Company. All three works have been reconstructed and staged by Evelyn Shepard. We'll also show footage of Koner dancing her tribute to Doris Humphrey, The Farewell. Please note: Tickets are now required for all Fridays at Noon performances. You can pick up a ticket at the box office downstairs. Pay what you can or come for free -- but you do need a ticket either way. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=135534 92nd Street Y true DD/MM/YYYY
