Add to Calendar 24-07-2013 24-07-2013 15 Red Hot + FELA LIVE! Fela Kuti lives on, raised from musician's musician to legend by recent reissues of the Nigerian firebrand's back catalogue, and by Fela!, the Broadway hit dedicated to his tumultuous life. Red Hot + Fela takes this tribute a powerful step further, enlisting Afrobeat icons (master Fela drummer Tony Allen), mirthful indie voices (the cinematic dance rock of Superhuman Happiness, which unites members of Antibalas, TV on the Radio, tUnE-yArDs, and Iron + Wine), and the next generation of Afro-futurist innovators (Congolese rumba-rap sensation Baloji, Sudanese From Montreal collaborator Sinkane), for a show that bursts with Fela's defiant spirit and groove-heavy fire. One of the many highlights: the world performance premiere of "How to Survive a Plague," composed by Luke O'Malley and Stuart Bogie (Antibalas), played for the first time live by Superhuman Happiness and Kronos Quartet. http://www.cityguideny.com/eventinfo.cfm?id=136805 Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts true DD/MM/YYYY
