Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College (BCBC) continues its 2013-14 Target Storybook Series with Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Other Eric Carle Favourites. Recommended for ages four and up, this production replaces the previously announced A Brown Bear, a Moon, and a Caterpillar: Treasured Stories by Eric Carle in Brooklyn Center’s schedule.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites includes the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s quest for food and his eventual metamorphosis into a beautiful butterfly, Little Cloud’s adventures high up in the sky as it transforms itself into various shapes of things it sees, and The Mixed-Up Chameleon’s discovery of his own unique nature as he explores his ability to change color.  Audiences familiar with Mermaid’s other adaptations of Eric Carle’s books can expect the same attention to detail that has won international acclaim for the company.

Venue Description: Founded in 1954, Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College presents outstanding performing arts and arts education programs, reflective of Brooklyn's diverse communities, at affordable prices. Each season, Brooklyn Center welcomes over 65,000 people to the 2,400 seat Walt Whitman Theatre, including up to 45,000 schoolchildren from over 300 schools who attend their SchoolTime series, one of the largest arts-in-education programs in the borough. In 2014-2015, Brooklyn Center will celebrate its 60th anniversary season, which will correspond with the opening of the new Leonard and Claire Tow Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College.
