Description: Performed by the Calder Quartet. Hungarian composer Peter Eötvös describes Korrespondenz as follows: "Th[e] string quartet reproduces the dramatic relations between Leopold Mozart, living in Salzburg, and his son, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, living in 1778 in Paris, through excerpts from their correspondence. The instruments of the string quartet are sounded as if they were ‘conducting conversations.’" Side by side, Eötvös and Bartók create a context for each other.
Bartók Quartets 1 and 5 and Peter Eötvös’s Korrespondenz.
